The book, which somehow resurfaced on Twitter recently, was written before Tom secured the role of Spider-Man. In is, his father hilariously recalls realizing his son had “Eclipsed” him in fame. The book’s description reads: “Eclipsed is a hilarious story and insight into family life. We all want the best for our children and we hope that they might eclipse our own achievements. But in the same business as us and before they even hit their teens? Come on, really?” Despite this clearly satirical summary (and that fact the book was written by a comedian), the internet is taking it seriously. “Tom Holland will continue collecting his fat Marvel paychecks and not worrying about his bitter, problematic ass dad profiting off his son’s successes!” one user wrote. Let us remind you that the book was written before Tom was Spider-Man. Also, this person cannot take a joke. “Tom Holland’s dad wrote a bitter ass book about his son getting more famous than him,” said another user. ‘Tom Holland’s dad is canceled,” another plainly stated, ignoring the fact that Tom wrote the forward for the book. We know that sarcasm doesn’t always translate well over the internet, but seriously, Twitter? This is just embarrassing.
